Valantina & Visual

I was almost twenty one when I first entered the daunting cinema hall; it was in Paris that I watched my first great movie (Baghdad Caf).  I had however watched some Palestinian movies in theatre halls or large rooms before.

I was almost forty one when I first appeared on the big screen in the ceremonial screening of the film-Hadduta Sagheera- (A Small Tale) directed by Izador Musalam the great international director.  This was in Haifa when theatre was my only passion, and its sacredness made me drown in worries that pushed me to cling to it even when it was far away from me. This passion made me refuse many movie roles that I was offered even without having to go through auditions.  I was a hostage to theatre and other things.  I was later asked by director Raeda Ghazala to do television, that incident left a great impact on my experience as an actor.

As I was going through this stage of maturity, and being on the big screen in three films in one season, I was chosen without auditioning by the directors: Rasheed Mashharawi,
Najwa Najjar, and The wonderful director Isidore Musallam.

I was finally able to break the barrier of fear that I built, fear of failure after the great successes I earned in theatre.
