Valantina & Poetry

When I was twelve years old, my Arabic language teacher told You are a Poet.

I had just completed my first poem at that time.

I walked to our villages post office and bravely sent some poems to the editor of Al Ithihad newspaper, which pages I used to put in order and distribute on foot proudly and lovingly.  The rejection I got from the editor to publish my poems only made me more persistent to continue with my writing attempts. I   kept going to the post office and sending my work to the editor, until the day of The First Drop of Rain came out; this was the title that was given to my poem.

Before long I received a call from a relative who studied in one of the socialist countries, telling me that my poem The First Drop of Rain was published in Alhadaf newspaper, which was issued by the Popular Front.  My poetry then took off in newspapers and magazines. Ever since I was young, I ascended podiums reciting poetry in celebrations, national events and student festivals, on Earth Day, Labor Day and on Womens Day

Since 1984 write poetry and poems are published in the various local newspapers.
